Your daily selfies and time-lapse videos are personal. Selfie Journey keeps them on your device, with optional journal backups in your own iCloud Drive.

Selfie Journey 1.0 (build 2 and later) collects no data from the app. There are no analytics, tracking identifiers, feedback uploads, or diagnostic logs sent to us. Face guidance and time-lapse videos are processed on your device.

Your journal and camera

Your portraits, dates, pose choices, and notes live in the app’s local storage on your iPhone or iPad. Camera access is requested when you take a portrait. Apple’s photo picker gives the app only the image you select.

Apple’s Vision framework and image brightness samples provide framing and lighting advice on your device. The app detects faces to help with framing; it does not identify you. It does not save face templates or a history of facial landmarks.

Time-lapse videos are created on your device. Sharing a portrait or video uses the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes.

Your private iCloud backups

When enabled, dated snapshots copy portraits, notes, dates, and chosen frames to the app’s private container in your own iCloud Drive. Backups use your Apple Account and iCloud storage. We do not have access to your journal or these backups.

Backups can be turned off in Settings. Deleting a local portrait does not remove older iCloud snapshots, and turning backups off does not erase copies already there. Apple manages storage and transfer; uploads require an available account, connection, and storage. Core capture and journal features work without iCloud.

No app analytics or log uploads

The current app has no usage reporting levels, installation identifiers, analytics SDKs, or network feedback form. It does not send us event counts, device details, diagnostic histories, portraits, notes, or face data. Daily reminders use local notifications rather than a server messaging service.

Your camera and notification permissions are managed by iOS. Reminder time, portrait frame, and iCloud backup settings can be changed in the app.

Feedback on GitHub

The app and this website link to GitHub Issues. Opening the link does not attach or upload app content, identifiers, logs, or device information. GitHub is a separate website with its own account requirements and privacy policy.

If you choose to post an issue, you decide what to share. Issues and comments can be public and visible to the project maintainers and other visitors. Please do not include private portraits, journal notes, passwords, or other sensitive information.

This website

Our public website has no advertising, marketing trackers, product analytics, or feedback submission form. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes ordinary connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver and secure web pages. Visiting this website or GitHub is separate from using the native app.

The private administration site remains restricted with Cloudflare Access for handling historical records. Its authentication service may use cookies for the administrator’s session.

Earlier beta feedback and reporting

The earlier 1.0 build 1 included optional feedback and configurable usage reporting. The replacement build 2 removes those features, and the former intake endpoints no longer accept new submissions. Updating the app does not automatically erase data received before that change.

Scheduled cleanup continues daily; records may remain until the next cleanup run. The historical dashboard stays protected. Local journals and private iCloud backups follow the separate storage behavior described above.
